gettin' lucky in Kentucky

I'm on the way back from Lexington in ecstatic disbelief! I managed to win 2nd place in my division and a $75 prize! I won 4 of my last 5 games to go 10/5 with a +223 spread. I still don't know how I did that and feel bad because Tina and Lisa finished 4 and 6 and really should be higher but both have been good natured about it. Lisa kept bugging me by pointing out how she beat me 4 times this weekend (she almost always beats me).
Anyway, I was wondering if I should have played the bonus round earlier today since I went 1.5/2.5 beating one higher ranked player and tieing one who is much higher (and losing twice to Lisa who "drew the bag" the first game). I almost didn't get to play the bonus round due to a schedule snafu but I'm glad I did. My record for the weekend is 11.5/7.5 which is about where I'm supposed to be at my rating. In fact, I just may break 800 after this weekend! We'll see.
I just can't get over the strangeness of this game. We had 6 people from my club come to Lexington and all of us had our share of personal victories. I find it telling that the 3 games that the winner of my division lost were to Tina, Lisa, and me. The law of averages seems to work here but I can see the growth of my Scrabble skills. I was wiped out at the end of the 12 Pittsburgh games and the most games in a day there were 8. Here we did 10 and 9 and I still feel fine and I even managed to track tiles this tournament.
Well, I will visit some of these nerd things in a post mortem follow up post later this week along with the official club post that Brad has asked me to do. Till then goodnight!
P.S. As a sorry side note. The director of the tournament was a real douche this year. Several of us are talking about not going back next year.
