a light day of exercise...

Today was scheduled to be a light day of exercise for me as my schedule for my distance training has me running 6-7 miles on Sunday. If I can do that then maybe there is hope for me to finish this program. Today I hadn't planned on doing anything actually. I met with Kay, K-girl, and my parents for dinner and afterwards K-girl asked me if I would go on a bike ride with her. So we went back to Kay's and biked for about an hour ... or 6 miles of hills and flats. That just about wore her out but it felt pretty good for me. After she recovered she asked if we could go hit tennis balls around for a while. I told her I hadn't played tennis since Jr. High School but I'd give it a try. We ended up doing that for the better part of an hour as it all came back to me quickly and I was able to really get a good workout with the lateral movements of running all over the court. Runners don't get enough lateral movement training and that makes them prone to injuries when they step off a curb funny or step in a pothole. So it was a good 2 hours of working out for my "easy day." Tomorrow I promised dad I would help him to dig a ditch ... I'm not looking so forward to that.

Court was good today ... the main court was very very busy while we weren't. We were lucky. I also played Dad at three games of Scrabble tonight. He beat me in the first game by 9 points even though I had the late bingo of SIphONS for 61 pts. He wanted to play again. I killed him and he wanted to play again and was all downtrodden when I opened with the bingo ViLLANS* for 76 pts. Dad was so beside himself he didn't notice that the word was missing a second "I" for VILLAINS. Still, he had some very good plays and the last game was closer than I would have thought with a 34 pt. difference. I think that Dad is ready to go to Scrabble club but I don't know if he will. We'll see.

So you're cheating at Scrabble . . . against your Dad? What kind of monster are you?

I direct your attention to my post about phoneys (which I'm sure you've read ... you Scrabble-phobe) wherein I discuss that playing a fake word is not "cheating" ... particularly where your opponent gets free challenges (which Dad uses from time to time).

Silly Inca! :-) Besides, I'm such an atrocious speller that I wasn't sure if that or SIPHONS was good till I looked both up later.

I still say you're a cheater - just because! Your poor Dad! I think he should challenge you on every freakin' word! Dishonesty! Dishonesty!

I'm gonna give yer arse a good kick the next time I see ya!

Well, you may thank Karma. I played Dad in two games tonight and he beat me both times. In fact, he kicked my ass in the second game. And after I helped him dig ditches today! :-)
