blue haze and 244 days...
Speaking of blue things ... the news is still not reporting the cause of the blue haze that engulfed Charleston yesterday. However, one of my blog readers has written what he thinks was the cause of the problem.
It's from the power plant... sulphuric acid mist and ammonia, either from start-up with new scrubbers, or inefficient systems. It's made worse by the calm air.So says John DeMar.
AEP should have immediately admitted to the problem, and minimized the panic
And AEP had similar problems in 2001 at a nearby plant in OH. They ended up buying out the town of Cheshire, OH.
Update: This story has been verified by the Charleston Gazette and the cause of the blue haze has been tracked back to levels of sulfuric acid emissions that are 4 times greater than the AEP plant was reporting. Click here for more details.

Quit saying "ugh" everytime you count the days until the marathon. I'm sure there are a lot of people out in this world who would love to be healthy enough to run a marathon . . . you are lucky.
I liked all the inconsistencies about the blue haze too. I bet you would have become suicidal had you been forced to shelter in place for an extended period with those damn deputies. Did you at least have a book?
When was the shelter in place announced? I never saw anything about while I was at work. I check the weather via TWC and NOAA several times a day and they always have those things posted. Hmm.
Ugh is about how I feel right now IP. I'll try though.
Yes, I had a book delirium. Thanks. :-)
And JDB, the shelter-in-place apparently came from Kent (I must get my name into the media every opportunity) Carper who told WSAZ there was one when there wasn't.

My honey got an emergency email and a call on his home phone (he's in the Valley) about 4 if I'm not mistaken.
Although we did takeout on Friday night, I have to wonder if my massive, worse-than-usual Charleston headache was related to the haze.

I had a headache too. I don't know if it was psychosomatic or because of the stuff creeping down the river.
