support the Mountaineers...

I don't usually look much at email solicitations but I got a very worth solicitation request from Bob Coffield, a fellow WV Blogger who runs the Health Care Law Blog who wanted to pass around a message to those who want to do something to support the WVU Football team at a time when recent events are distracting from the task that the player still have to face with a tough opponent on Jan. 2nd at the Fiesta Bowl.

Details and the contents of the support request can be found on Bob's blog here.

Essentially, the movement is being advanced by Bob Coffield and Chris Brumley to get Mountaineer fans to buy tickets to the Fiesta Bowl game even if they can't attend and to donate them to those who would be willing and able to do so (specifically to needy kids in the Glendale, Arizona area). This keeps the stadium full of Mountaineer fans as well as showing the University that the fans still support Mountaineer football. Beyond that, it shows the Bowl Coalition that WVU can still bring the economic boon to their Bowl games keeping WVU as a strong choice for future Bowl appearances due to the historic strength of our fan base to support the team with their dollars.

It's a cool idea that is worth taking a few minutes to check out.

Update: Another cool idea that I just got an email about is to wear, fly, and flaunt all of your gameday gear on Dec. 26th to show support for the team. Seems like a nice and simple idea on a day when many people will be going around the malls and other places looking for those post-Christmas bargains.

Thanks for posting a link. I appreciate your effort to help get the word out to all Mountaineers! Update from Chris this morning -- we are up to 55 tickets sponsored. We are hoping to reach 100.
