wvu football rox the Fiesta Bowl...

Well, the Fiesta Bowl was sure exciting last night ... though I missed the first half of the game from being in a hospital ER doing a hearing. But the second half was the good half! Man, what a game! Of course, I'm going to defer to Mike from Open Mike because he has a much better sports sense than do I. He has a great post about WVU's interim (and possibly new) head coach Bill Stewart today. That was something that I really liked seeing last night. You could really see the team rallying around Bill Stewart and the way that they boosted them on their shoulders at the end of the game it was like "Rod who?" That was the sweetest part of that game. Every time that a player did a good play they came off the field and were congratulated by Stewart and he had some really great moments with his team. And according to Mike the team has demanded that the University offer the head coach position to Stewart and the University is expected to make the announcement later today at 11:00. From everything that I've been hearing though, it sounds like Stewart is going to get the job.

On a final note. Mike has another post on his blog about Coach Rich Rod's disappointment at the animosity of WVU in the wake of his rapid departure. He has some good thoughts here as well. But for me, it comes down to that Coach Rod abandoned his team to chase a bag of silver pieces. I hope that his team goes down in flames and he pays the price for his disloyalty over the rest of his career. In the mean time, I hope that Bill Stewart thrives at WVU and it looks like he will do just that! He made some very good statements in the post game ceremony last night after whipping them Oklahoma Sooners 48-28. He said that today it is a great day to be a Mountaineer wherever you may be. Rock on coach, rock on!

Update: They made the announcement ... it's official ... Bill Stewart is the new head coach!

Comments:
I liked the way WVU answered every run OU made at them. If they had played like they did last night against Pitt it would been WVU vs. OSU for the BCS Championship. They really played well last night and controlled the game.

It was an excellent game!

So excellent, in fact, that the whole time I refused to give in to feeling like we were going to win it. I kept telling Curmy I was pleasantly not disappointed. Even through the speeches at the end.
